Stir-fried Sakura Cheese Tofu with Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 200g Sakura cheese tofu
  • 1 small broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional for extra umami)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Open the Sakura cheese tofu packaging and thaw for 10 minutes.
    • Cut broccoli into small florets and wash thoroughly.
  2. Blanch the Broccoli:
    • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 tea spoon of vegetable oil.
    • Add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 1-2 minutes, until they are bright green but still crunchy.
    • Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to an ice bath (cold water) to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
  3. Fry the Cheese Tofu:
    • Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
    • Add the Sakura cheese tofu cubes and fry until all sides are golden brown. This should take about 3-4 minutes.

 

  1. Sauté the Aromatics:
    • In the same pan, add the minced garlic and sliced onions. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
    • If using chili, add it now for a mild heat kick.
  2. Stir-fry the Broccoli:
    • Add the blanched broccoli to the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, until the broccoli is cooked but still crisp.
  3. Add the Sauces:
    • Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil.
    • Add 2 tbsp of water to create a light sauce and help the vegetables steam a bit. Stir well to coat the broccoli with the sauce.
  4. Combine with the Sakura Cheese Tofu:
    • Add the fried Sakura cheese tofu back into the pan.
    • Gently toss everything together so that the Sakura cheese tofu absorbs the flavors of the sauce and broccoli.
    • Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Season and Serve:
    • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
    • Serve the stir-fried Sakura cheese tofu with broccoli while hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds, if desired.
