Stir-fried Sakura Cheese Tofu with Broccoli Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200g Sakura cheese tofu
- 1 small broccoli, cut into florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 red chili, thinly sliced (optional, for heat)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional for extra umami)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp water
- Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Open the Sakura cheese tofu packaging and thaw for 10 minutes.
- Cut broccoli into small florets and wash thoroughly.
- Blanch the Broccoli:
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 tea spoon of vegetable oil.
- Add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 1-2 minutes, until they are bright green but still crunchy.
- Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to an ice bath (cold water) to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
- Fry the Cheese Tofu:
- Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Add the Sakura cheese tofu cubes and fry until all sides are golden brown. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Sauté the Aromatics:
- In the same pan, add the minced garlic and sliced onions. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- If using chili, add it now for a mild heat kick.
- Stir-fry the Broccoli:
- Add the blanched broccoli to the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, until the broccoli is cooked but still crisp.
- Add the Sauces:
- Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil.
- Add 2 tbsp of water to create a light sauce and help the vegetables steam a bit. Stir well to coat the broccoli with the sauce.
- Combine with the Sakura Cheese Tofu:
- Add the fried Sakura cheese tofu back into the pan.
- Gently toss everything together so that the Sakura cheese tofu absorbs the flavors of the sauce and broccoli.
- Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes.
- Season and Serve:
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- Serve the stir-fried Sakura cheese tofu with broccoli while hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds, if desired.
