Sakura Cheese Tofu Skewer with Paneer Tikka Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Sakura Cheese Tofu Skewer:

  • 200g Sakura cheese tofu
  • Cut slices of yellow and red Bell Pepper (Capsicum)
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes (to prevent burning on the grill)

For the Paneer Tikka Marinade (Tikka Sauce):

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for smokiness)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil (or vegetable oil)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander (optional for garnish)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade (Paneer Tikka Sauce):
    • In a bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth.
    • Add the gram flour (besan) and whisk again to avoid lumps.
    • Mix in the ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and smoked paprika (if using).
    • Add the lemon juice, mustard oil, and salt, and stir until the marinade is well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  2. Marinate the Sakura Cheese Tofu:
    • Open the Sakura cheese tofu packaging and thaw for 10 minutes
    • Gently toss the Sakura cheese tofu into the paneer tikka marinade, making sure each piece is evenly coated.
    • Cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge. You can marinate it longer (up to 4 hours) for more flavor.
  3. Skewer the Sakura Cheese Tofu:
    • After marination, thread the marinated Sakura cheese tofu and bell pepper slice onto the soaked bamboo skewers. Ensure there is space between each Sakura cheese tofu and bell pepper to allow even cooking.
  4. BBQ Grilling the Cheese Tofu:
    • Preheat your BBQ grill to medium heat.
    • Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent the tofu from sticking.
    • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, turning occasionally until the tofu is slightly charred and golden.
    • Brush any remaining marinade on the skewers as they cook for extra flavor.
    • Remove from the grill when the tofu is cooked and charred to your liking.
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish the skewers with fresh coriander and serve with a dip of Balsamic Glaze, naan, or a light salad.

These Sakura Cheese Tofu Paneer Tikka Skewers are perfect for BBQ grilling, offering a delightful combination of smoky, tangy, and spicy flavors!

Dip Suggestion: Balsamic Glaze

A rich, tangy, and slightly sweet glaze perfect for drizzling over the grilled Sakura cheese tofu skewer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar (adjust to taste)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Simmer the Vinegar:
    • In a small saucepan, pour the balsamic vinegar and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add Sweetener:
    • Once simmering, add honey or brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Reduce the Liquid:
    • Lower the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it reduces by half and becomes thick and syrupy. The glaze should coat the back of a spoon.
  4. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove from heat and let it cool. The glaze will thicken further as it cools.
