Red Prawn Lollipop with Cheese Fondue Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Red Prawn Lollipop:
- Open the packaging and thaw 200g of red prawn balls for 15 minutes
- Olive oil spray (for air frying or shallow frying)
For the Cheese Fondue:
- 200g Gruyère cheese, grated
- 100g Emmental cheese, grated
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
Cook the Red Prawn Lollipop:
- Air-frying: Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Lightly spray the red prawn balls with olive oil and air-fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Shallow Frying: Heat a little oil in a pan and fry the red prawn balls until golden and cooked through (about 5-6 minutes).
- Once cooked, set aside.
Preparing the Cheese Fondue:
- Prepare the Pot:
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot or a heavy-bottomed saucepan with the halved garlic clove to infuse it with flavor.
- Heat the Wine:
- Pour the white wine into the pot and heat over medium heat until it starts to simmer (but do not boil).
- Melt the Cheese:
- Gradually add the grated Gruyère and Emmental cheeses, stirring constantly in a figure-eight motion until the cheese melts and the mixture is smooth.
- Thicken the Fondue:
- Dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tbsp of water and stir it into the cheese mixture.
- Add the lemon juice, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg (if using), stirring until the fondue is creamy and smooth.
- Keep Warm:
- Reduce the heat to low to keep the cheese fondue warm. If you have a fondue set, transfer the cheese to the fondue pot and place it over a flame to maintain the heat.
Serve and Assemble:
- Serve the Prawn Lollipop:
- Place the cooked red prawn balls on a platter, ready to be dipped into the cheese fondue.
- Dip and Enjoy:
- Serve the red prawn balls with the cheese fondue alongside other dipping options like bread cubes, boiled vegetables, or roasted potatoes.
